&#38;nbsp;How to link elements of the physical
world with digital environments? Can
digital representations of our analogue
world be actively shaped? And what are
the potentials of these digital captures? These prototypes investigate the digital
requirements needed to translate physical gesture in a software environment, creating a digital twin.

The Project Contextual gesture Interface, is a
research experimentation on new Hybrid tools, that
involves a physical object to interact with computers. Building bridges between physical prototyping
and computer assisted design, using Augmented
reality and hand tracking technology.In collaboration with software Ingenieur Mathias
Joergen.

					In a context of collaboration between human and
machine, a key element is the transmission of the
human’s gesture, to give birth to the machine’s move-
ment. Here, the notion of collaboration is based on the
empirical knowledge of the human in contact with the
material, and on the capacity of the machine to interpret
this gesture to define its movement.

&#38;nbsp;Looking at soft robotics in order to explore whether
physical gestures can facilitate nonverbal
communication with machines. Would this
allow to tap into intrinsic patterns of physical
behavior, like anticipation, or even create a form of empathy towars robots?The field of soft robotics might serve as a
source of inspiration to create new organic
interaction concepts with autonomous
systems.

		<description>
&#38;nbsp;
Soft Collision (2024) looks at the potential of safe physical interaction by embracing collision rather than avoiding it. Creating a tangible interface between humans and robots as a tool for direct manipulation and live programming. Introducing a novel design framework, by a deformable and sensitive membrane activated via pneumatic.

	About
Anna Schaeffner, is an interaction designer and researcher. After studying product design in France she graduated with a Bachelor's degree (2018) and a Master's degree (2021) in interaction design, at the Kunsthochschule Weissensee in Berlin where she lives since 2015. Today she is enrolled in a practice based PhD at EnsadLab Paris, in the reflective interaction group and at cluster of excellence »matters of activity image, space, material« HU from Berlin.

Her research centers on soft robotics
and the design of deformation as a vehicle for movement, dynamic material
adaptation, and expressiveness. Through her design practice, she investigates
hybrid forms of interaction to enhance the connection between robotic objects
and their environments.
